A respected Mexican enjoys a good coffee in the mornings. We know that the breakfasts we enjoy in our country are very varied. They can range from fruit with granola, eggs to taste, snacks, and even sweet bread, however, what can never be missing is coffee.  In this sense, tastes differ, as some people prefer their coffee with milk, black, or even iced. Some go further and prepare a good pot coffee, which has a spiced flavor thanks to cinnamon. The best part is that we have excellent news for coffee lovers, as a recent scientific study indicates that this comforting drink could combat inflammation, discover why! You can also read: Is drinking coffee good for your kidneys? The incredible benefits of coffee with milk According to information published by the Healthline portal, coffee with milk could be an excellent option when it comes to combating inflammation, thanks to the mix of polyphenols in coffee and amino acids in milk. It is worth mentioning that polyphenols are defined as a “substance found in many plants that gives color to some flowers, fruits, and vegetables. Polyphenols are antioxidants.” In a study conducted by researchers from the Department of Food Chemistry at the University of Copenhagen, experts set out to analyze what happens when polyphenols are mixed with other substances. When coffee was mixed with milk, they found that “cells exposed to both substances were twice as effective at combating inflammation compared to polyphenols alone,” according to Healthline. Additionally, it is believed that this reaction could occur when combining proteins with fruits or vegetables, but more studies are needed.  You can also read: Drinking coffee could reduce the chances of developing Alzheimer'sIn an interview with the health-focused portal, the lead author of the study, Marianne Nissen Lund, explained that “polyphenols easily react with proteins in foods and the effects on food quality have been studied to some extent, but the consequences of the anti-inflammatory effects of polyphenols are unknown, which is relevant to health.” She also clarified that “this is the first time, as far as I understand, that polyphenols subjected to a chemical reaction with amino acids have been analyzed in immune cells.” It is important to note that “humans do not absorb a large amount of polyphenols,” so experts are trying to find new ways to combine these antioxidants with other substances to increase their absorption in the body.  We know this may sound a bit complicated, so it can be summarized as follows: coffee contains antioxidants and when mixed with a bit of milk, a chemical reaction occurs that could help the human body combat inflammation, a key factor in the development of various diseases. So don't hesitate to add a touch of milk to your coffee while researchers continue to seek more answers and benefits, just remember to moderate your sugar intake.  Additionally, it is worth highlighting that antioxidants are incredible nutrients with many positive health effects, so be sure to include more polyphenol-rich foods in your diet: Extra virgin olive oil Almonds Raspberries Strawberries Pomegranates Apples Blueberries Walnuts Green tea Red wine
