Additionally, the meta-analysis was conducted with data from over 1 million participants from 8 countries.  In the case of teas, the effects of three widely consumed varieties in different regions were studied: green tea, oolong tea, and black tea. The information indicates that participants drank between less than 1 and up to 4 cups of tea daily.  You can also read: 5 benefits of drinking dandelion teaAt the end of the study, it was found that those who drank 1 to 3 cups of tea a day reduced their chances of developing type 2 diabetes by 4%, while those who drank 4 cups reduced their chances by 17%.  The academic noted that “while more research is needed to determine the exact dosage and the mechanism behind these observations, our findings suggest that drinking tea is beneficial for reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes, but only at high doses.” Xiaying Li indicated that “certain components of tea, such as polyphenols, may reduce blood sugar levels, but sufficient amounts of these bioactives may be needed to be effective.”  So, although more research and clinical trials are still needed, there is no excuse not to enjoy a couple of cups of tea a day, as they contain all kinds of nutrients!  You can also read: 5 herbal teas that are an excellent home remedy
