This model aimed to confirm whether the increase in the consumption of healthy and nutritious foods would impact life expectancy. It is worth mentioning that, for the creation of the model, scientists used information from the Global Burden of Disease Study, a research program that monitors the different causes of death, disease, accidents, and risk factors in 204 countries. Finally, in the case of people aged 80, both women and men could add 3.5 years to their life expectancy by including fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, and nuts in their diet.
