One of the most dangerous eating habits is consuming too much fat. Doing this for an extended period can lead to chronic diseases, heart problems, and a rapid deterioration of overall health. We know that many find it difficult to reduce their fat intake, but today we have 15 tips to reduce fat consumption in your diet. 1.- Eat more fish and chicken, as they have much less fat than red meat. Use ground turkey instead of ground beef and remove the skin from the chicken when consuming it.   2.- Ask your butcher to remove all traces of fat from your beef and pork. This way, you will be cooking with a lean product that contains much less toxins.   3.- Bake or grill instead of frying; this reduces the use of oils and animal fats.   4.- Steam your vegetables and rice; this almost completely nullifies the use of fats in your preparation.   5.- Replace each whole egg you use with two egg whites. The yolk has protein, yes, but it also contains quite a bit of cholesterol.   6.- Use skim or light milk; it still contains the calcium that helps bones but without much of the fat found in whole milk.   7.- If you are going to use oils, use olive or canola oil and try to avoid animal fats like butter and lard, which add a lot of fat to your food.   8.- When eating at restaurants, ask for sauces and dressings on the side so you can control your consumption of these ingredients, which usually contain a lot of fat.   9.- Substitute butter and margarine with herbs and spices to flavor your dishes without filling them with fat.   Read the labels; although some products claim to be light, the reality is that many are low in sugar but just as heavy in fats.   Be careful with hidden fats Sometimes there are ingredients that shouldn't be fatty but are due to how they were prepared. A clear example is refried beans.   Change your proteins Try to consume, when possible, beans, soy, and tofu instead of animal meats like beef, pork, or chicken.   Consume fresh cheeses Mature cheeses have more fat, but fresh ones like cottage or panela have a much lower amount.   Have fruit for dessert When dining out, try not to order cakes or ice cream; instead, choose fruit or yogurt desserts to reduce your fat intake.   Refrigerate sauces, soups, and stews By refrigerating these preparations, the fat will rise to the top; just remove it and eat, thus eliminating much of the fat they contained.
