These vacation months are excellent for relaxing, and what better way to take your mind off the stress of daily routine than by immersing yourself in a good book. Just like recipes, there are books of all kinds: mystery, cooking, romance, adventure, etc. Today, we would like to recommend five that are definitely worth it and will surely distract you and bring fun to your days off. Here are 5 books you must read this summer. 1. Kitchen Confidential You may know or have heard of Anthony Bourdain, an eccentric television host who, a few years ago, was a renowned chef. His leap to stardom came when he published this book, a clear and concise confession of what really happens in restaurant kitchens: the stress, the fun, the creativity, the addictions, and everything in between. This book became a New York Times Best Seller and is an extremely entertaining way to dive into the world of cooking.   2. Time Capsule If you like Mario Benedetti, this is one of his most endearing works. It is a book of stories, or rather letters, addressed to various people. Within them are tales of love, loss, friendships, and dreams told in that simple and direct tone for which the Uruguayan author is so well known. Ideal for those who do not enjoy reading lengthy novels and prefer short and concise stories.   3. Game of Thrones Now, on the other hand, if you prefer to immerse yourself in intricate and complicated stories, these are the novels of the moment. It is a political drama set in a medieval fantasy world where different families fight for the throne through intrigues and betrayals. If you want to be part of the current conversation, this is the book to read; everyone is watching the HBO series, but the 5 novels available to date will give you an insider's look at the incredible world created by George R. R. Martin.   4. The Book Thief The New York Times says this book deserves a place on your bookshelf as much as Anne Frank's Diary. It is a dramatic story about a young German girl living during World War II. Her interest in literature leads her to explore her inner self, and little by little, she realizes that she must take a stand in her country's situation. A must-read novel that everyone should experience.   5. Reinventing Cooking You may have heard of Ferran Adrià, an award-winning chef named the best of the decade. This book tells how he took traditional Spanish cuisine and transformed it into what was served at the legendary Catalan restaurant, elBulli. The pages of the book recount how he innovated gastronomy to become the father of modern cooking, as well as his respect for ingredients and his love for food.   All these books can be found at your nearest bookstore without any problem.
