With recent news about red meat and processed meats, many are concerned about the harm this animal protein can do to us. The truth is that everything in excess can be harmful, and it doesn't hurt to spend a day without meat to detoxify the body from time to time. Today we tell you about the A Day Without Meat movement and give you some vegetarian alternatives. The World Meat Out Day has grown extraordinarily since its first celebration in 1985. It is the largest campaign in the world to educate people about the benefits of eating more vegetables. The Day Without Meat is an international event promoted by FARM (Farm Animal Reform Movement), and it aims to raise awareness in various ways, but mainly by discussing the benefits of not eating meat for a day, or if you prefer, regularly. Here are some positive points of the movement:   Reduces the risk of heart attacks, cancer, and other degenerative and chronic diseases Increases our energy level, decreases food budget, and simplifies food preparation and cleaning. Increases the availability of grains, cereals, and legumes for human consumption, as animals are inefficient in converting energy into protein. Saves animals from cages, overcrowding, mistreatment, beatings, mutilations, and a torturous life and death. Preserves soil, groundwater, forests, and other forms of wildlife as they are not converted into forage crops for animals.   The World Day Without Meat takes place every March 20, but of course, if you agree with the previous points and also want to cleanse your body a bit, we recommend the following recipes: Vegetarian Lasagna Jamaica Tacos Vegetarian Nuggets Vegetarian Chilaquiles Vegetarian Pastor
