Tequila is an iconic distillate in Mexico, a symbol of our identity and traditions. It is made from blue agave tequilana Weber, and although there are around 295 different species of agave, only this one can be used to make tequila.Every third Saturday in March, the National Tequila Day is celebrated. Celebrate this drink with Denomination of Origin, since 1974, in the states of Jalisco, Guanajuato, Michoacán, Nayarit, and Tamaulipas, with a good tequila made 100% from agave. How to Taste Tequila? To taste tequila like an expert and celebrate National Tequila Day, you just need to follow these recommendations: Appearance: pour your tequila into a glass or a tequila shot glass and observe its color. This will indicate whether it is young or has rested in barrels for some time. Aroma: the scent depends on each person's olfactory memory, as well as various factors such as the soil where the agave was grown, its production processes, aging, among others. For this phase, place your nose in the center of the glass and lean in a bit before inhaling; then, exhale gently through your nose and try to recognize all the aromas you perceived before (flowers, herbs, fruits, etc.). Taste: take small sips of tequila and swish them around your mouth to appreciate the flavor of the agave in each sip. Cocktails with Tequila to CelebrateIf you prefer to celebrate this day with a delicious and refreshing cocktail, we recommend two margaritas that you will never forget, plus they are very easy to prepare: Jalapeño MargaritaIngredients: 60 ml Patrón Silver Tequila15 ml Patrón Citrónge Orange5 ml agave syrup30 ml fresh lime juice3 slices of jalapeñoLime wedge for garnishProcedure: At the bottom of a shaker, muddle a slice of jalapeño with agave syrup.Add all the liquid ingredients and shake vigorously with ice to chill.Strain the mixture over ice in a low glass.Garnish with a lime wedge and the remaining jalapeño slices.Cucumber and Coconut MargaritaIngredients:45 ml Patrón Silver Tequila60 ml coconut water15 ml fresh lime juice15 ml natural syrup7 slices of cucumber (3 for garnish)Procedure:Combine all ingredients in a shaker (except for the garnish) and shake vigorously with ice to chill.Strain the mixture over ice in a glass and garnish with a cucumber fan.Tell us how you will celebrate National Tequila Day!  Information and photos: Patrón Tequila.
