It’s impossible not to think of a good drink during these hot seasons. And what better than mezcal, a traditionally Mexican beverage, highly recognized worldwide and with a unique history that reflects part of our culture. The word mezcal comes from the Nahuatl mexcalli, composed of the words metl (maguey) and ixcalli (cooked), meaning cooked maguey. With a great variety of agaves, each one gives a unique touch and flavor to the mezcal. There are various types of mezcal: joven or blanco, reposado, añejo, and aged in glass. Likewise, depending on its production process, it can be categorized as ancestral and artisanal. I share four cocktails with mezcal that you definitely should enjoy.Mezcal Mojito: White mezcal, 5 mint leaves, sparkling water, ½ shot of fresh lime juice, 1 teaspoon of agave honey, ice. Serve in a highball glass.Jamaica Mezcalini: White mezcal, ½ shot of fresh lime juice, 30 ml of hibiscus concentrate, 1 teaspoon of agave honey, and rim with worm salt.
