Studies have shown that consuming half a liter of beetroot juice daily reduces high blood pressure; this is because the juice, when mixed with saliva, transforms into nitrite, which is then converted by the hydrochloric acid in the stomach into nitric oxide, which in turn acts as a reducer of high blood pressure.
