What is the basic kitchen equipment you should have?

Having basic kitchen utensils is important to avoid headaches when cooking.
You don't have to spend a lot of money, as we usually think, to have the most important tools in our kitchen. Moreover, there are different styles and designs that match each of our personalities, allowing you to have a complete and visually appealing kitchen.
Depending on how many people are in the house, the sizes of pans, pots, and dishes vary. Take note of this list of basic equipment you should have in your kitchen.
- 20 cm kitchen knife
- About 8 cm kitchen knife
- Kitchen scissors
- Ham knife or carving knife
- Potato peeler
- Set of wooden spoon and fork
- At least two spatulas for removing fried or cooked foods from the pan
- Grater for cheese or vegetables
- Strainers, at least two, one large and one medium or small

- Can opener; although many cans come with easy open, it's good to have a can opener. It's better if you buy one with a bottle opener option. Some drinks, like beer bottles, still use this type of cap

- Pestle and mortar, useful for mixing spices
- Two pots of different sizes with lids
- Two pans of two different sizes. Look for those with good coating, even if they are a bit more expensive. Ceramic ones are also good but a bit more delicate
- Lids for the pans, which will always help prevent splashes that can stain the wall or your clothes
- Speaking of clothes, a kitchen apron is always good to have
- A clay or glass dish for use in the oven. It works for both conventional ovens and microwaves
- Oven containers, at least two or three. One deeper and trays for roasting and browning, having at least 3 different dishes
- Several airtight cans or jars for cookies, rice, flour. This will help to keep them better
- A nice basket that can serve as a breadbasket
- Bowl-type containers, like small salad bowls. At least 4 small and 2 medium
- Coffee maker; even if you have an electric one, it doesn’t hurt to have a manual coffee maker just in case
- Cutting board made of wood or plastic, which you can also use to present a cheese, pâté, or cold cuts platter

- An electric mixer, which can be handheld or jug-style
- Pressure cooker, essential if you want to cook quickly without losing nutrients. There are electric pressure cookers that are also programmable
- Electric juicer, it's useful
- Electric coffee maker, for coffee lovers, it makes the task easier
- Toaster
- Microwave with grill, very practical as it allows you to cook by combining microwave or as a traditional oven
