It can be said that it hasn't been many years since gastronomy and oenology have become popular around the world. There is a growing interest among people to learn about good eating and good drinking.
Pairing, precisely, can be called the art of perfectly balancing food with wines. That is to say, knowing which wine to drink to enhance the ingredients of our dishes.
In some restaurants where wines are highlighted, the staff is trained to recommend the best wine we can have with the dishes we have ordered.
There are two ways to pair food:
- By complementing. Here is where the flavors in the food and the wine are similar, which makes the entire range of flavors stand out on our palate. If your dish has mild flavors, it is best to combine it with a soft wine. This technique works best with desserts, as you can pair them with sweet wines that are not too spicy.
- By contrast. Here is where we must use all our knowledge to not overshadow our food. The intensity of the wine's flavor should enhance the taste of our dishes. It is not advisable to use a strong wine with mild cheeses or a food with strong flavor like a aged cheese with a soft wine.
Both wine and food should be enjoyed with all the senses and be in perfect balance to make their consumption a complete experience.
We have some cooking recipes that are ideal to complement with a good table wine.
