Knowing how to drink wine could be said to be an art; we must consider many aspects to fully enjoy all the flavors contained in a bottle. That is why there are specialists in the field, such as sommeliers, who are dedicated to taking advantage of everything that the best winemakers have to offer.
There are many different labels that we can find. To better explain the temperature of wine, we will categorize wines into three groups:
- Red wines.
- White wines.
- Sparkling and rosé wines.
The temperature of sparkling and rosé wines ranges between 6 to 8°, which will better highlight their personality and acidity. To maintain the temperature of the bottle once opened, it is recommended to place it in a bucket of ice, so its temperature does not rise.
The temperature of white wine will depend on the grape varieties from which the wine is made. For example, a Sauvignon Blanc is best served between 8 to 10°, while a Chardonnay is best between 10 to 12°. One should take note if the glass in which the wine is served fogs up, or if the wine is too cold, the glass is too hot, or the environment is too humid.
The temperature of red wine can range between 14 to 18°. Here, it will not only depend on the type of grape but also on the type of wine we are about to consume. For example:
