Are you having an important dinner and don't know what type of glasses to use and with which wine?
Don't worry anymore, we have important information to clear your doubts.
First of all, there are things you need to know about a wine glass:
- The top of the glasses should end in a conical shape to the inside
- The stem of the glass should be long enough so that the hand does not touch the glass, this way the wine will not warm up too much
- The glass should be transparent to appreciate the wine's color
- A wine glass should never be filled to the brim, this is to maintain its temperature and not let its aromas escape
Depending on the type of wine, the glasses we should use are:
- Sparkling wines. The glasses for these wines should be tall, with a long body and short stem. They are known as flute glasses. The purpose of this shape is to keep the bubbles from escaping, and they can be filled up to 4/5 of their capacity.
- White wines. The glasses for white wine should be smaller compared to red wines. Therefore, they are smaller and narrower glasses, which will help maintain a cold temperature for longer. They should not be filled more than 1/3 of their capacity.
- Red wines. Red wine glasses should be larger than white wine glasses. The glass should be wide, with a large bowl and rounded shape, allowing the wine to breathe and release all its aromas. It should be filled to no more than 2/3 of its capacity.
- Sweet wines. For sweet wines, a glass with a long stem and a wide opening is needed. This opening directs the liquid to the tip of the tongue, which is more sensitive to sweetness, aiming to balance the flavors of the wine.
