As the first vegetable for newborns, chayote is highly recommended in Mexico.
Chayote contains a lot of water, potassium, and 7 of the 9 essential amino acids.
The recipe for giving chayote as the first vegetable is very easy:
Ingredients:
1 Chayote (fresh)
Instructions:
1. Wash and peel the chayote with a sharp knife. Cut into slices.
2. Steam the chayote with previously filtered or boiled water for 15 minutes.
3. Make a puree of the cooked chayote by adding 1 tablespoon of the water used for cooking the chayote.
4. Store in glass containers and serve little by little on the baby's plate, as any leftovers can be saved and used the next day.
The experience with my daughter eating chayote was excellent. She ate half a chayote at lunch and half a chayote at night before her bath. She really liked the taste and texture.
