Vegetables and your baby

To introduce different vegetables to a baby, you should follow the rule of one new food every 3 days. Having started with chayote, I wanted to try a red or orange vegetable as the second one and chose the carrot. Many children like carrots because they have a very sweet taste and a new texture; however, my daughter did not like them. When introducing a new food that is not liked, it is important not to reject it completely, as it can take up to 10 tries for a baby to develop a taste for a food. Other vegetables I tried before starting fruits were: squash, peas, green beans, and sweet potato. Once she had tried several vegetables, I made a mixed vegetable puree that she loved. Mixed Vegetable Puree Ingredients: 1 teaspoon of olive oil 1 peeled and chopped carrot 1 peeled and chopped potato 1 tablespoon of peas 2 tablespoons of corn kernels 4 tablespoons of water Procedure: 1. In a pot, heat the olive oil and cook the carrots and potatoes for 5 minutes. 2. Add the peas, corn, and water, mix, and cover. Cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. 3. Make a puree of the cooked vegetables using a food processor or grinder and add a little more water if you want the puree to be more liquid. 4. Store in glass containers and serve small amounts on the baby's plate so that if they do not finish it, it can be saved and used the next day.
