A picnic, also known as a day in the field, is an informal meal in an open space, preferably outdoors, in a place with a nice panoramic view.
The base food for a picnic includes sandwiches, fruits, hard-boiled eggs, cookies, vegetables, or any food that is light and easy to transport, traditionally in a wicker basket. It is also traditional, among older people, to have a picnic based on cold cuts (chorizo, cheeses, ham) and red wine. Younger people often accompany it with beer or soft drinks. (
