The Mexican food is a heritage thanks to all the corner gems we have in the country. For those places that have broken paradigms and borders simply to share the best product, technique, and love with those who visit them. They may not be at the top of recommendations for international lists, but we assure you that they are the recommendations of locals, experts, and lovers of Mexican food. That's why at Kiwilimón we decided to share with you the little spots where you must grab a taco, a tostada, or a worthy snack to remember. In this first installment, we will start with 3 of our favorite places in Mexico: Oaxaca, Mazatlán, and Mexicali. Join us every weekend on this adventure!El Lechoncito de Oro, Oaxaca They say that Oaxaca is the land where you learn culture and lose your waistline. I have proven it every time I visit. And for this first installment of must-visit food spots in Mexico, Arcadio Alcazar Fuentes, a 38-year-old Oaxacan cook at the Asador Vasco, recommends a classic from the capital. It is El Lechoncito de Oro, where you will find delicious lechon tacos with chicharrón. They are the perfect stop if you love tacos and enjoy a party (they start serving at 8:00 pm and continue until they run out!). They have spectacular spicy salsas. When you arrive at the intersection of Libres and Independencia, ask for La Güera, who will greet you with all the Mexican attitude.FB: ElLechoncitodeORO Mariscos El Cuchupetas, Mazatlán Just 10 minutes from the Mazatlán airport, Manuel Sánchez welcomes you into his home and one of the best-kept Mazatlán secrets since 1987. It is a seafood restaurant that Don Manuel has adapted from a house to a restaurant (according to its expansion, he has added rooms and properties, making it look like a maze), to welcome everyone who decides to enjoy some delicious house shrimp or fresh scallops. Its reputation is so widespread in Mexico that during your visit you will find photos of all the celebrities who have visited, including former Mexican presidents. This corner gem is the favorite of Teresa Delgado, a sommelier and professional foodie, who recommends that you conclude your visit with a corico, a typical cookie from Mazatlán, sold outside El Cuchupetas.FB: MariscosElCuchupetas Tacos de La Meche, MexicaliIn Northern Mexico, in front of the Benito Juárez monument, the well-known pastry chef Bianca CastroCerio recommends Tacos de La Meche. Here, the specialty is shrimp or tripe tacos in flour tortillas. She decided to order them one day combined with shrimp and tripe (golden like chicharrón) and it became a house classic. All your tacos are served with plenty of avocado, salsa, and pickled onion. A delight!FB: @Lamechemxli
