Have you ever heard of IPA beers? India Pale Ales are high-alcohol beers (between 5º and 7º), with intense bitterness and aroma. They are characterized by their high concentration of hops. The history of IPA beer is related to India, hence its name. It dates back to the long journeys between Asia and Europe and the need to have a beer that would last. Due to this, London brewer George Hodgson had the idea to increase the alcohol and hop content to eliminate bacteria and keep the beer preserved for longer.Despite its British origin, the first time the term IPA was used was in Australia in 1829, when the newspaper Sydney Gazette published an advertisement promoting East India Pale Ale as the drink of summer. That’s how IPA was born!
