Okay, your idea of a romantic dinner or a family meal may not exactly involve eating prison food inside a prison, but let us explain. There is a restaurant in Singapore that has decided to serve elevated versions of prison dishes in honor of the popular TV show Orange is the New Black. So, if you're looking for a different experience that is, let's face it, a bit eerie, then Asia awaits you. In what is a replica of the Litchfield Penitentiary cafeteria from the show, a three-course menu is being served complete with ugly trays, only water to drink, and plastic cutlery. The menu features a corn appetizer (which also includes jalapeño, lime, and cheese) and a main dish that is typically served to misbehaving inmates: mushroom pie, cheddar cheese, quinoa, and sunflower seeds. For dessert, of course, something that resembles that unappetizing slop from the movies, but which actually consists of coconut pudding, white chocolate, and almond crunch. Now, with all the strange charm of the place, it may not exactly be your idea of fun. Who knows, maybe it’s better to visit the replica of the Central Perk café from Friends that is in Manhattan, or even the Irish bar that inspired the creators of How I Met Your Mother to create MacLaren’s, which also exists in the Big Apple.
