Hunger is one of the evils of our time, and it is no news. According to The Hunger Project, there are 805 million people in the world suffering from hunger, which means that one in every 9 individuals globally is in a state of malnutrition.
Although care and equality for these people should be sought constantly throughout the year, it is in December, thanks to the Christmas season, when many foundations help and seek to feed the most needy. Here are the most important ones in which you can participate.
Action Against Hunger
Every year, 15 million people are helped by this foundation, which not only seeks to feed the most needy but also teaches them about nutrition, health, and hydration.
An important part of their project is labor reintegration, a program through which they help low-income individuals find jobs that allow them to have income and thus care for their own and their family's nutrition.
MUWOM
Hard Rock Cafe Madrid has just joined forces with the famous performer Yoko Ono, WhyHunger, and MUWOM in recording a new version of John Lennon's song, Imagine, to raise funds that will go directly to eradicating hunger in the world.
100% of the proceeds this Christmas from the song purchases on iTunes will be donated to the foundation.
CMR Foundation
The CMR Foundation aims to combat nutritional problems in children living in poverty.
In Mexico, 13.6% of the population under 5 years old suffers from chronic malnutrition, and in contrast, we hold the first place in childhood obesity, which is why the foundation has taken action and invites everyone to participate, either by donating as an individual or as a company and restaurant. Every December, they have activities to collect food for the most needy children in Mexico.
Food for All
This is a food bank that has been operating in Mexico City since 1994. What they do is extremely useful as they provide nutritional packages every week to more than 30,000 people, in addition to training thousands of families each year regarding dietary habit changes.
Here you can also donate or do one or several volunteer activities during the holiday season.
Help in Action
Their mission is to improve the living conditions of families and communities in the poorest countries and regions of the world. They achieve this through self-sustaining integral development projects and awareness-raising activities, with the aim of promoting structural changes that contribute to eradicating hunger and poverty.
You can sponsor either a child or a family to help with their progress both at the end of this cycle and any day of the year.
