As mentioned before, thirst can be mistaken for hunger. By drinking a glass of water before eating, you will combat thirst and feel full more quickly.
Savor each bite and chew slowly

Gulping down food prevents your body from recognizing when it is satisfied in time and can lead to digestive issues. Every time you eat something, try to focus on each bite: feel the texture, enjoy the flavor, and chew slowly.
Eat without distractions and while seated

Forget about eating in front of the computer (or any other screen) or while doing other things. When you have distractions during mealtime, your senses are focused on everything except what you are eating. Give yourself at least 30 minutes to eat quietly, without any distractions.
Learn to recognize when you are satisfied

Try to serve yourself smaller portions than you usually eat. Enjoy each bite and chew slowly. Before finishing your plate, ask yourself if you are still hungry. Many times we eat out of habit and end up feeling a little guilty.
