Spring is always an opportunity to start anew… bloom with it. Follow a detox diet that will make you feel full of energy: since health is the main beneficiary, you improve your life and your personal relationships. In alternative medicine, it is always suggested to follow some detoxifying and regenerating plan for the body during these dates, and like any detox process, diet plays a fundamental role.   What it is for a) It expels the toxins accumulated during winter, a time when heavier, greasier foods are consumed and drinking is more frequent. b) It gives a break to the digestive organs, especially the gallbladder, kidneys, and liver; which are the most important filters in the body. c) It facilitates internal cleansing, mainly of the intestines. d) It reduces fat deposits, where toxins also accumulate. e) It decreases cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood. f) It improves the appearance of your skin, nails, and hair. g) It energizes your body.   A 7-step program 1. Reduce the consumption of food compared to winter; the quantity is the first thing to cut down. 2. Be more selective; start choosing less fatty and less protein-rich foods. 3. Reduce the amount of refined flours and sugars. 4. Drink extra amounts of water and natural juices. 5. Include more fruits and vegetables; now the season and climate favor you. 6. It is optional to try mono-diet fasting, which means eating fruit or juices for an entire day, but it should be on a weekend when you are more relaxed and the day does not demand too much from you. 7. On an empty stomach, drink a glass of water along with the juice of half a lemon to cleanse your body.
