As you already know, I have recently become a fan of Detox, and I am convinced that giving the body a break to do its work is really good. Besides, the truth is that after doing it, you feel very well, not to mention the extra benefits: you reduce inflammation, repair your skin, and improve digestion, among others. But it's not always easy to know how to do a detox, so here’s a very simple and not radical one. Prohibited Foods Dairy and eggs: none, including their substitutes. Grains: white rice, oats, corn, barley, rye, or any grain containing gluten. Vegetables and fruits: orange (not even in juice), grapefruit, banana, strawberries, corn, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, potatoes. Animal protein: pork, beef, veal, sausages, cold cuts, canned meats, seafood, raw meat or fish. Plant protein: soy products. Nuts and seeds: peanuts and peanut butter. Oils: lard, processed oils, canola oil, most dressings and spreads. Sweeteners: sugar (white or brown), honey, maple syrup, sweet syrups, agave, cane juice. Condiments: regular chocolate (with dairy and sugar), ketchup, pickle sauce, most jams and jellies, barbecue sauce, teriyaki sauce, chewing gum, and mints. Permitted Foods This is by no means a complete list; in fact, if it doesn't appear in the prohibited food section, then you can eat it. But I think it will help you get ideas on what to eat. Dairy substitutes: nut milk (like almond, hazelnut, or walnut), rice milk, coconut milk, coconut oil or butter. Gluten-free grains: brown rice, amaranth, tapioca, quinoa. Fruits and vegetables: fresh or frozen unsweetened fruit, avocado, olives, seaweed, raw vegetables, steamed, roasted, or in juice. Animal protein: fish, wild game (rabbit, pheasant, deer, etc.), lamb, duck, chicken, turkey. Plant protein: peas, lentils, legumes, bee pollen. Nuts and seeds: sesame, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds, English walnuts, cashews, macadamia, pistachios, Brazil nuts. Oils: virgin olive oil, flaxseed oil, sesame oil, almond oil, sunflower oil, coconut oil. Beverages: pure water, decaffeinated herbal tea, mineral water, green, white, or red tea. Sweeteners: stevia, brown rice syrup, coconut nectar. Condiments: vinegar (especially balsamic, coconut, and apple cider), all spices except cayenne pepper, all herbs, sea salt, pepper, raw chocolate (without milk and sugar), cinnamon, garlic, ginger, unsweetened jam or jelly.
