If you eat a sweet, you are providing extra fuel to the body, and therefore it won't burn the fats and sugars in the body, causing them to accumulate. If you suddenly crave some molletes, chilaquiles, or any other dish, it's not that bad, as long as you don't eat any dessert afterward. If you want to sweeten a drink, don't fall into the trap of using regular white sugar, as it is the one that causes the most weight gain and has the least nutrients. In addition to artificial sweeteners, you can use honey or, failing that, unrefined sugar, as it contains fewer calories than white sugar and therefore poses less of a problem for your diet. Let's not forget that one of the keys to good eating is balance. Some think that if they slip up halfway through the diet, the best thing to do is to stop eating altogether or only have that forbidden snack and nothing more. This is a mistake; if you've already let your guard down, then it's best to try to consume ingredients that balance what you ate. If you overdid it on carbohydrates, then some vegetables or fruits and a bit of protein will help your body better assimilate the food. When they tell you to drink at least two liters of water a day, they are not joking. Of course, one of the goals of such a request is to keep the body hydrated, but it also aids digestion and lightens heavy foods. It goes without saying that a good amount of water each day promotes good health and fills you enough to reduce cravings for some other forbidden foods. Another important aspect of breaking the diet is mental, as, although it may seem otherwise, failing a little will not make the difference between gaining or losing the pounds you desire. Of course, consistency is key, but if there is a small slip-up, you have to stay strong and see it as a minor stumble, something fixable. What is not allowed is to treat yourself to a whole day or a season of indulgence, as this undermines the purpose of taking care of oneself.
