You do not have to live in separate houses for each family member to have a different lifestyle; therefore, it is important that nutrition is not the same but suitable for each individual's nutritional and caloric requirements and activities.
According to a study conducted by the National Autonomous University of Mexico, lifestyle can be defined as the set of activities that a person, social group, or family performs daily or with a certain frequency; depending on their knowledge, needs, and possibilities.
It doesn't matter if you are an athlete or an office worker, there are foods that are appropriate and beneficial for each lifestyle. With information from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, we tell you which are the best for you.
1. Workaholic. Do you often eat at your desk because you never have time? A good option is to always carry the following foods in your handbag or briefcase: granola bar, peanut butter, tuna, dried fruit, and wheat crackers.
2. Athletes. Remember, what you eat affects your performance. Your body needs energy to perform the activity, so it is important to start with a light breakfast: low-fat yogurt, whole-grain crackers with peanut butter, a banana, or cereal with lactose-free milk. Before, during, and after exercise, replenish fluids with plenty of water or a sports drink.
3. Student. This lifestyle can be fast-paced and low-budget, but the latter does not prevent having a balanced diet. Try to have snacks that combine protein and carbohydrates: hard-boiled eggs, banana and yogurt, almonds with low-fat cheese. Salads are also excellent options; just avoid those that contain bacon, creamy dressings, and caloric cheeses.
4. Family-oriented. Make mealtime part of the gathering. A quick meal can be nutritious; you can opt for grilled chicken or fajitas.
5. Vegetarians. It is essential to consume nutrient-rich grains; for example, chia seeds.
Having the right nutrition depends on you, as there are many options to achieve it regardless of your lifestyle. Give it a try!
