Cheese goes well with all kinds of food, but it contains a lot of fat and is banned in most diets. If you like it but are watching your weight, here are some low-calorie alternatives. Source of calcium, proteins, fats, carbohydrates, and vitamins, milk and its derivatives are part of the group of forming foods thanks to the nutrients they provide to the body since we are little. In fact, they help to form strong and healthy bones, nails, and teeth, also favoring the construction and repair of muscles, tissues, and organs, and preventing anemia, as well as muscle and mental fatigue. Cheeses, in general, are richer in proteins and minerals than raw or processed milk, which is due to their preparation processes. They are also a good source of vitamins B1 and B2, and they double the amount of protein from the milk they are made from thanks to the whey they lose in the process. If we look at the extremes, fresh cheeses provide 8 grams of protein per 100 grams of product, while pressed cooked cheeses like Emmental and Gruyere can contain up to 40 grams of protein per hundred grams. Specifically talking about which cheeses are better for health than others, it should be explained that many of the commercial fat-free cheeses are not as nutritious as they seem. In fact, when fat is removed from cheese, it loses flavor and texture, so other chemical elements must be added to replace those characteristics, and these elements are not entirely healthy or even dietary. For this reason, our recommendation is to eat small portions of cheeses that are not marketed as dietetic, and here we tell you which ones:   Swiss In a portion of 100 grams, only 8 are fats, and its content of iron, calcium, and protein is quite high. In fact, if you are watching your salt intake, this cheese is one of the lowest in sodium of all.   Feta It is immediately associated with Greek and Mediterranean cuisine due to its strong flavor and light texture. It comes from sheep's milk and sometimes goat's milk and represents less than half the calories that an American cheese would have.   Mozzarella This cheese is often used in fried and quite caloric products, but the reality is that it is not heavy at all, and instead of containing a lot of fat, it contains a significant amount of calcium and protein.   Parmesan Favorite of many for its intense flavor, this could be the most caloric of the ones we recommend, but its content of calcium, minerals, and vitamins balance it out. It pairs perfectly with pastas, salads, and stews, so we recommend using it in small portions to enhance the flavor from time to time.   Recipes with Cheese   Recipe for Watermelon and Feta Cheese Salad Ingredients: - 4 cups of seedless watermelon cut into cubes - 1/4 cup of crumbled feta cheese - 3 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar - 1 tablespoon of basil - A pinch of salt Click here to see the steps to prepare this recipe.   Recipe for Baked Mozzarella Sticks Ingredients: - 10 sticks of fresh mozzarella cheese about 1 centimeter thick - 1/3 cup of panko for breading - 2 beaten eggs for breading - spray oil Find the steps to prepare this recipe by clicking here.   Recipe for Eggplant Parmesan Ingredients: - 1 kilogram of eggplant - 1 cup of flour - 4 eggs - 3 cups of breadcrumbs - 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh thyme - 3 cups of marinara tomato sauce - 15 basil leaves - 2 cups of thinly sliced mozzarella cheese - 1 1/2 cups of parmesan cheese - pepper to taste To see the steps to prepare this recipeclick here.   Which of these cheeses do you prefer?
