Is there a food addiction?

Just like other addictions, the one that leads us to overeat is equally harmful. We must be careful not to fall into these types of circumstances because, after all, we are what we eat.   Everything in excess is harmful, there is no doubt about that. When it comes to food, we think we can be a little weak or that cravings get the better of us, but food addiction is a real issue that many people experience without even realizing the problem. The matter is that it is not a gastric diagnosis or even a physical one; rather, it may be an intellectual or emotional disorder, and that is why it is so difficult to treat. Scientists have demonstrated that the electrical impulses generated in certain areas of the brain are responsible for the feelings of pain or pleasure and even the sense of reward that we experience in response to specific activities, events, or experiences. Those who suffer from food addiction seek, through this behavior, a self-induced emotional change: they repeat specific actions to provoke the nerve cells in the brain to produce activity that generates pleasurable feelings. Now, this does not mean that we are aware of such activity, as our body may be creating these routines to generate pleasure, even when it can be self-destructive. Each person develops a particular way of facing fear, anxiety, stress, pain, or guilt. Some are able to handle it in the best way and focus directly on the problem, but many others resort to excesses as a way to block real issues. These attempts to eliminate or reduce stress or pain are temporarily relaxing and pleasurable, making it hard to realize that, in the long run, they will be severely harmful to our bodies. Symptoms that this may be happening to someone include eating whenever they are bored or under a lot of stress. Another indication is continuing to eat even when no longer hungry. The way to resolve this begins by accepting the problem and seeing specialists; most will recommend some type of corrective diet, but the most important point will be to stop seeking fleeting pleasures in food and to find them in personal experiences. This way, life will be healthier, and each meal will be a true nutritious and healthy pleasure.   Click here to see the diet section that Kiwilimon has for you, to take care of your health.
