Reading an article in the Huffington Post led me to a curious conclusion. Nutrition expert Joy Bauer commented for a piece on things dietitians wish we would stop saying: “All foods are important for different reasons. Each one plays a role in keeping us energized and in the game.” Our friends at ActitudFem share their findings on this topic. After years of thinking of breakfast as the most important meal of the day, you start to take it for granted without analyzing the reason behind the suggestion. Now, if I have a very good breakfast but end up eating a diet soda due to lack of time, I justify myself by thinking, “After all, I had a very good breakfast.” That breakfast is important does not diminish the rest of the meals. The first meal of the day nourishes us after many hours of not consuming anything (because we were sleeping). This helps give a boost to your metabolism, but in any case, every meal is necessary to maintain that level and elevate your energy. So don’t stop having a good breakfast; protein in particular is a good addition to your mornings, but don’t neglect yourself or eat just anything on the street under the excuse of a good breakfast. Making good choices is the first step to getting in shape.
