Over the years, doctors have urged their patients to consume more fish than meat.
The corresponding question is: Why? A basic and concise answer is that seafood and fish offer extensive health benefits.
The main reason why medical researchers love fish is that it fights the leading health threat.
Findings from 30 large studies conducted worldwide show that people who consume just one or two servings a week reduce their risk of dying from a heart attack by an average of 36 percent, say specialist doctors.
The richest source of fish is omega-3 fatty acids, as these stabilize heart rhythm, lower triglyceride levels that clog arteries, apparently cool chronic inflammation of arteries, and produce a modest drop in blood pressure.
Still, not only the heart benefits when we eat seafood, but also the brain. Fish lovers suffer fewer strokes, reducing their risk by 40 percent, according to some studies. And growing evidence suggests that omega-3 fatty acids help the brain in its daily functions.
