With 23 gold medals and his name written in the history of Olympic swimming, Michael Phelps surpasses any other athlete who has competed in this event, at least in awards.
Of course, he achieved this through effort and dedication, and a large part of his training is what he eats, as it is the fuel he needs to give 100% in every race.
Today we will tell you what he eats on a normal training day, and it is probably much more than you thought a professional athlete ate.
According to Phelps himself, he no longer consumes as many calories as he did in 2008, before the Beijing Olympics.
Back then, the swimmer consumed an outrageous 12,000 calories a day just to recover the energy he expended training every day.
At that time, a common breakfast could include an egg sandwich with onion rings, mayonnaise, and a chocolate muffin for dessert.

Currently, things have changed, and what Phelps has done is continue to eat a lot, but with an emphasis on protein and carbohydrates (by the way, he is a fan of Mexican food).
This is what the greatest Olympic athlete eats on a normal day:
Breakfast
-A large coffee
-A plate of fruit
-A large bowl of oatmeal
-A large ham and cheese omelet

Dinner
-Vegetables
-Lean meat (chicken or fish)
-Brown rice or whole grain bread
*It is worth noting that he avoids soft drinks and saturated fats, but part of his diet is to consume plenty of healthy carbohydrates along with a lot of protein.
Although he can always treat himself to something like this…
