The well-documented damage that junk food does to the body has been evident for decades, but beyond fat and cholesterol, new research reveals an even more alarming ingredient. Doctors at George Washington University have stated that hamburgers and fries, along with other products sold in major chains, may be much more harmful than we thought.
It turns out that, following research on junk food, traces of a chemical called phthalate have been found, previously only seen in products like soaps and makeup.
What does this mean? Here are the important facts to know about this new discovery surrounding the fast food industry:
Phthalates are linked to a high rate of infertility, primarily in men
The problem doesn’t stem from the ingredients used themselves, but rather from the preservation processes they undergo
The results are 100% verifiable, there is no dispute, the chemicals were found within the junk food served at various fast food restaurants. This makes it even more concerning
To obtain the results, tests were conducted on 9,000 people over a span of 7 years (2003-2010)
In the United States alone, one-third of the population eats junk food from fast food chains once a day
And, undoubtedly, that one-third of the population has much higher chemical levels of phthalates than the other two-thirds
What to do to remedy it?
