We live in a world full of packaged foods, and with so much information, it is becoming very difficult to know for sure if what we are eating makes us gain weight or if it is even linked to cancer. That is why I am going to explain to you what is true and what is not. Packaged foods:  Foods that are packaged as “instant” may cause inflammation because these meals contain a lot of salt. For example, a typical noodle soup has an average of 1820 mg of sodium, which is equivalent to 80% of the limit we should consume daily, can you imagine? This is very harmful to our heart and stomach, and to make matters worse, it can make you retain a lot of water. “Diet” food:  When you see any food with the word “diet,” it basically means that it has a lot of sugar, because all the fats and calories that were removed from the product were replaced with sugar to maintain its flavor. Therefore, try to buy healthier snacks like nuts and dried fruits. Soy products:  Don’t be fooled when they say something is “soy,” as these products can contain 40 or more ingredients; of which not all provide benefits for your body, like those from soy. Organic products:  When we see the words natural or organic on any packaging, we immediately think it is of the best quality, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it is. It is true that they do not contain artificial substances, but they may indeed contain a large amount of sugars and oils. Sometimes packaging can mislead us, which is why it is very important to check the labels of what you are buying so that you can be sure of what you will feed your body.
