In the past, talking about nuts and seeds had a bad reputation because they were considered to have a high fat content, but now we know that they are worth eating for their many health benefits.
Nuts and some seeds are rich in vitamin E, unsaturated fats that balance bad cholesterol, proteins, minerals, and micronutrients.
When consumed in moderation, they offer many health benefits, improve skin and hair, and contribute to good memory.
Although they are healthy, they should be eaten in moderation due to their high caloric content. They should be eaten raw, not roasted, even though they are tastier.
Here are some commonly consumed seeds:
- Almonds. They have a lot of vitamin E, which helps reduce bad cholesterol. They improve the health of our skin and aid in hair growth. It is preferable to eat them after soaking them overnight for easier digestion.
- Hazelnuts. They contain oils that help with hair and nail growth. They contain calcium, magnesium, iron, and potassium.
- Peanuts. They are common and inexpensive. They help lower cholesterol and combat hypertension. They contain phosphorus, magnesium, and calcium. You can make your own peanut butter; be careful with store-bought ones because they add other ingredients or hydrogenate them to last longer.
- Pine nuts. Rich in minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, potassium, and magnesium.
- Pumpkin seeds. These seeds are easy to consume whether whole or ground. They help eliminate fluid retention and mucus in the respiratory system. They are believed to help combat worms. They contain vitamins E and A. They are good for skin health, especially for people with acne.
Other nuts and seeds include sesame, sunflower seeds, pistachios, cashew seeds (India nut, cashew), peach pit seeds, Brazil nuts, among others.
Enjoy them and include them in your cooking recipes, desserts, and more. They are nutritious.
