Wine is a drink with many years of history, which, when consumed in moderation and alongside meals, is very healthy for the body.
The health effects of wine come from aromatic compounds and phenolic compounds such as resveratrol, antioxidants, and polyphenols.
Many health studies demonstrate the benefits of moderate consumption of red wine. It is known to prevent heart diseases, but more recent studies indicate that it also prevents and alleviates the effects of other diseases such as dementia, diabetes, or osteoporosis.
Learn some of the reasons why you should consider drinking wine:
It takes care of the heart. Regular and moderate consumption of red wine (one or two glasses a day) has been shown to help improve blood circulation and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Delays dementia. Moderate consumption of red wine may help delay the onset of senile dementia and other forms of dementia.
Prevents arthritis. Studies conducted in Sweden have found that drinking an average of 5 to 10 glasses of red wine per week can reduce the risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis by more than 50% compared to non-wine drinkers.
Helps keep flu and colds at bay. A study in Spain showed that those who consumed 8 to 14 glasses of red wine in a week were less likely to catch a cold than those who drank beer or non-alcoholic beverages.
Reduces the risk of diabetes. Moderate wine consumers are more likely to prevent type 2 diabetes. A study from Harvard University’s School of Public Health conducted among women over 25 who consumed one or two glasses of wine a day had a 58% lower chance of having diabetes compared to non-drinkers.
