Women from Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Bolivia, Panama, Chile, Argentina, the United States, Peru, and Mexico will participate from July 14 to 31 in a Global Meeting featuring various virtual activities centered around beer, its production, and its sale. This online congress has been organized by Women Brewers in Latin America, who are celebrating their first anniversary, and is led by the collective Adelitas from Mexico, but with the participation of collectives throughout Latin America. All activities will take place through social media with live sessions on Instagram, and for the congress, which is focused on the network of brewers, there will be a private Facebook group where on Saturdays, July 18 and 25, there will be presentations from professional women in the brewing industry discussing professionalization, digital marketing, social impact, economics, and finance, free for registered participants.Women in the brewing industry have been present for a long time and according to statistics, their participation is 23.8 percent; they have currently become more visible with their work and have organized to be seen, open spaces, and thus contribute to the gender perspective in this field.Amid the pandemic caused by the covid-19 disease, something as social as sharing beers has become inconceivable, but women brewers have turned this around and recognize that beer as a social element “changed its function”.According to Jessica Martínez, Head Brewer of Malteza, making “an approach with consumers through digital content to maintain the bond” is the way to adapt to the current landscape.Digital content is essential for them at this moment, as if previously sellers did a great job informing consumers, with sales points closed they have had to “reinforce that information with tastings, reviews, and digital content”.These women are doing a great job, so if you want to learn more about them or you yourself are interested in beer production, don’t miss their live sessions on Instagram.
