Moreover, it may also help reduce the chances of suffering from high blood pressure. During the study, experts found that after consuming tomato moderately, patients with grade 1 hypertension showed a reduction in blood pressure. On the other hand, the health-focused medium indicates that “people who did not have high blood pressure and who ate the most tomatoes or dishes with tomatoes had a 36% lower probability of developing high blood pressure than those who ate less.”  Another relevant finding in this study is that people who consumed more than 110 grams of tomato per day had a “decreased risk of developing hypertension compared to those who ate the least amount of tomato.”  This scientific study involved 7,056 people, of whom 82.5% had high blood pressure. Therefore, more studies are needed to corroborate the positive results; but all indications suggest that we now have more reasons to enjoy Mexican cuisine, which uses tomatoes in sauces, soups, and stews.  Also, don’t forget that tomatoes are vegetables rich in various nutrients such as lycopene, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and vitamins A, B, and C.
