Shared by our chef: Karla Campos Quintero, this delicious Red Velvet cake has a batter that contains vanilla and chocolate and red dye, which makes it look so appealing. This version is decorated for Christmas, but the recipe can be used for all occasions. The frosting is cream cheese. Ingredients 2 1/2 Cups of Flour 2 Cups of Sugar 1 Teaspoon of Baking Powder 1/2 Teaspoon of Salt 1/2 Cup of Cocoa Powder 2 Sticks of Butter (1 cup) 1/2 Cup of Milk 4 eggs 30 Ml of Artificial Dye (red) 1 Cup of Sour Cream 2 Tablespoons of Vanilla Extract FOR THE CREAM CHEESE FROSTING 1 Stick of Cream Cheese 1/4 Cup of Butter (1 stick) 2 Tablespoons of Sour Cream 2 Tablespoons of Vanilla Extract 450 Grams of Powdered Sugar FOR DECORATING THE CAKE Christmas peppermint candies Green sugar sprinkles Melting semi-sweet chocolate in a double boiler Preparation Method Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Prepare a round cake pan by greasing it with vegetable spray. In a deep bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa. In another deep bowl, beat the butter, milk, eggs, red dye, vanilla, and sour cream. Add the flour mixture to the wet mixture and beat the ingredients until smooth. Pour the mixture into the pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before unmolding. While the cake is baking, make the frosting by beating the cream cheese, butter, vanilla, and powdered sugar. Take the cake and cut it horizontally with a bread knife (to create two layers). Spread a layer of frosting on the first layer, place the top layer of the cake on top, and cover that layer with frosting as well. Melt the semi-sweet chocolate in a double boiler and pour it over the cake so that it drips as shown in the picture. Tips You can also make cupcakes by pouring the batter into cupcake molds and baking for 20 minutes instead of 25-30. Presentation With the green sprinkles or frosting, decorate the cake to resemble a Christmas tree. Sprinkle with the peppermint candies and serve.
