The celebration of Children's Day originated on November 20, 1959, when the UN General Assembly held a meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, where it decided to reaffirm children's rights universally. Since then, although the global celebration is on November 20, each country has chosen a special day to celebrate and organize activities to help develop the well-being of children around the planet. In Mexico, in 1924, April 30 was marked as Children's Day, with General Álvaro Obregón as President of the Republic and Licenciado José Vasconcelos as Minister of Public Education.
