The table decoration for Christmas dinner is important, and for this, we must pay attention and precision to all the details to ensure everything turns out perfectly.
Tablecloths, napkins, cutlery, plates, trays, decorations, and more are the elements that make up an elegant and perfect Christmas dinner. Take note as we list some tips and ideas that you should consider.
Tablecloths with Christmas motifs
Before placing the tablecloth, you should put a protective cover to safeguard the table. Then, place the tablecloth. Iron it to remove all the wrinkles that remain from being folded. When choosing it, try to opt for a white one so that everything you put on the table stands out. You can also buy a white one with a small Christmas motif. Try to ensure it is not too busy. If you prefer to add a touch of color to the table and choose a green or red tablecloth, make sure the colors of the rest of the table are white. The tablecloth should hang from the sides no more than one-third of the distance from the table to the floor.
Appropriate napkins
Napkins should be made of fabric and should match the tablecloth; it doesn't matter if they are paper, but they should be of good quality. The ideal size is about 40 centimeters. You should place it on the left side of the guest or on top of the plate, but never inside a glass. Sometimes it is considered that the napkin is only placed on the right side once dinner is finished.
The centerpiece
The Christmas centerpiece should not exceed a height of about 30 centimeters so that it does not obstruct the guests' view. You can make a homemade one by placing dried flowers, pine cones, ribbons, and candles in a dish. If the table is very large, you can place two centerpieces. If you want to put candles, do it on candlesticks. The candle should only be lit when dinner is in the evening, and the candle should be unscented to avoid disturbing the palate.
Show off with the dinnerware
First, the charger plate, then the flat plate, and finally, the deep plate. If the dinnerware has any design, it should be positioned at twelve o'clock. The edge of the larger plate should be aligned with the edge of the table.
The glasses in order
Glasses should be placed at the upper right of the plates. From left to right, place the water glass, followed by the white wine glass, and lastly, the red wine glass. Since it's Christmas, you can also include the champagne glass. Typically, they are taken out at the end to avoid overcrowding the table.
Placing the bread
To the left of the plates, you should place a smaller plate for the bread. If you are going to serve butter, you can place it on the right on another plate with a special spreading knife.
The order of the cutlery
To the right of the plate, there should be a knife, with the sharp side facing the plate, and a spoon. To the left, the fork. The cutlery should be arranged from the outside to the inside following the order of the dishes. If there is any special cutlery for seafood (tongs), it should be on the right. The dessert cutlery can be placed on top of the plate.
