Christmas Recipes are many, and we usually focus a lot on the main dishes, but why not give priority to desserts during this festive season? A sweet ending with an exceptional dessert can beautifully wrap up any of your Christmas dinners, and that's why here’s an idea to surprise all your guests with a sugary touch.
There are many ways to tackle a Christmas recipe for a dessert. We can be very classic and prepare nougats and cookies to satisfy that family taste. A second option is to dedicate ourselves to making innovative desserts with a lot of style, and the last option would be a good cake, which is never a bad choice and always shouts celebration. Today we will focus on the classic cookie that we all love, the polvorón. Just mentioning its name sounds like Christmas since everyone likes it, especially children, who enjoy them a lot. This is the basic preparation; if you decide to add a little more vanilla, chocolate chips, or even pine nuts, it's your choice—try to make each recipe your own.
Polvorones
250 gr of flour
125 gr of lard
75 gr of powdered sugar
60 gr of toasted ground almonds
A pinch of salt
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
First of all, toast the flour, place it in a bowl, and put it in the preheated oven at 180 ºC for about 15 minutes.
Then place the toasted flour, now cooled, on a table forming a volcano where you will introduce the lard, powdered sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Mix everything very well and add the ground almonds. Knead with the palm of your hand until you achieve a smooth and homogeneous dough. Form small balls with the dough and place them on a tray, then bake them in the oven at 225 ºC for five minutes until they are slightly golden.
Remember that next week we will continue to focus on Christmas recipes, from desserts to cocktails so that all the festive dinners and meals you have this month are a success.
