We are in the midst of the December festivities. We have been preparing for these weeks all year round. And while it may seem trivial to some people, there are others who take the challenge of the season very seriously: digesting exorbitant amounts of food and drink without dying of gastritis in the process. But, before you are surprised by the portions of tamales and atole that one person is capable of ingesting in 26 days, we present to you a greater gastronomic odyssey: the Thanksgiving – Candelaria Marathon. This is the extreme version of the traditional Mexican marathon. To participate, one needs a good appetite and a steel stomach. This is definitely one of the best ways to close out 2016 and start the new year; however, we do not recommend it for everyone. The Thanksgiving – Candelaria requires extreme effort.
