Currently, the importance of wine at any meal has been increasing year after year. The best wine in the world to accompany is the one we like because we can find all kinds of wines, with fruity flavors, woody notes, a citrus touch, dry, sweet, etc.
It is almost impossible to list all the labels we can find, but we can make a classification based on the type of grape, age, origin, etc. In Mexico, we can find a diversity of table wine, originating from various wineries, most of which are located in the north of the country.
The type of wine we should choose to accompany our dishes will depend on what we are going to eat. The perfect pairing occurs with the balance of flavors between the wine and the dish.
To better understand, we will make a basic classification that will help you select the best wine to accompany:
Meats
For red meats, red wine. A red meat dish with a simple side is the opportunity to open any of the crianza or reserva red wines available in the supermarket.
Chicken
This is a neutral meat that allows for different types of wine. If you prepare it with tomato, onion, and aromatic herbs, choose a red wine like Tempranillo (which is not too strong). If you make it with mushrooms, mushroom sauce, and roasted potatoes, you can choose a Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot reserva. If you decide to season it with citrus like lemon juice and aromatic herbs, it’s better to pair it with a white wine like Chardonnay.
Fish
Fish does not necessarily need a white wine as was previously believed. A red wine will be suitable if served with mushrooms. We can also choose a rosé wine if we decide to sauté it with peppers and tomatoes. When the fish is very fatty and seasoned, it’s better to pair it with a Pinot Noir. For seafood like white fish, a white wine is preferable.
So after this, we know that the best wine to accompany is the one that tastes best to us.
Here are some holiday recipes with which you can choose to pair any wine of your choice.
