Fasting is not just about stopping eating; there are ways and methods to achieve it without malnourishing yourself and to fulfill various goals. That is why we will discuss the types of fasting available and their characteristics.
Fasting is not difficult, but one must pay close attention to what one eats before doing it, and of course, to what is consumed afterward to recover. These stages are important as they prepare and revitalize the body before and after the act.
Here are the various variants:
Fruit-based
This involves eating only fresh fruits, in suitable combinations, for the entire duration of the fast. It should be noted that this is not the most appealing method for those wanting to lose weight, as the concentrated glucose in fruit turns into sugar for the body.
Single fruit based
This does not mean you should live on apples or bananas every day, but rather that each meal can consist of only one fruit. For instance, if one day you have an orange for breakfast, then mango for lunch, and finally, strawberries for dinner, then you are following a single fruit fast. You can mix different types, such as having citrus for breakfast and eating or having some with more fiber or protein for lunch or dinner.
Liquid fasting
This type of fasting consists of only consuming liquids like fruit juices. Among partial fasts, this is the most challenging to achieve as there is no solid intake, but it has the ability to provide powerful purifying and healing effects on the body as it flushes out toxins and rehydrates the organism.
Complete fasting
As its name suggests, this type of fasting entails not eating or drinking anything. The only thing that can be ingested is pure water and only in the case of needing to quench thirst, not as a substitute for food of any kind.
