Wine is the star of celebrations. It is a liquid story bottled that allows us to savor the terroir, typicity, and tradition of a wine region, which perfectly complements the gastronomic experience of celebrating at the table with our loved ones. For this Thanksgiving, we suggest pairing your celebration feasts with five exceptional wines, which are part of the portfolio of D’Otto Wine, a Mexican distributor that has been promoting wine consumption in Mexico for over twenty years and represents 43 wineries from different regions of the world. Otto's philosophy is “To create experiences around wine. The wineries we represent are the sum of a life dedicated to this wonderful industry; they are projects from all over the world that wine lovers should know. That’s why, in 2021, I organized the first edition of the D’Otto Fest, a festival where 18 of the wineries we work with were present, allowing people to know the wines directly from the owners and winemakers who produce them. That is our main characteristic: personalized treatment with the entire chain behind the best labels in the world and with our final consumer.” Here are the five wine labels we recommend for celebrating Thanksgiving with Mexican flavors: Pinot Gris from Alexana Winery The winery was founded by a cardiologist from India who decided to follow his passion to Willamette Valley, Oregon, to produce wines in a unique terroir in the world, as it has 18 different types of soil. To make this white wine, the grapes are hand-sorted twice, and the juice is extracted from the entire cluster. Then, the juice is fully fermented, and the finished wine is allowed to sit on the lees while being stirred every two weeks to extract more flavor and texture. On the palate, it is a wine with rich, round flavors with notes of melon and citrus. Pair this wine with a delicious stuffed marinated chicken. Horizonte from Exopto Exopto comes from Latin and means “to desire strongly.” This philosophy inspired Tom Puyaubert in 2003 to recover and value old vines on the slopes of the Sierra Cantabria and Monte Yerga, within the D.O.Ca Rioja. During this time, his work has been to craft wines artisanally to create authentic, honest, and surprising labels. We invite you to accompany this celebration with Horizonte Tinto, the first wine created at the winery, made from Tempranillo (80%), the flagship variety of Rioja, with Garnacha and Graciano, along with the star dish of the season: a turkey, but ¡al pastor! Discover the recipe here. Sangarida Godello from Attis Bodegas & Viñedos Located in the heart of Val do Salnés, within the Denomination of Origin Rías Baixas, an area embraced by the Atlantic, this wine is born from the Godello grape, unique in the world! In Bierzo, this variety only represents 4% of the cultivated production. And this winery produces it with excellence, with the wisdom inherited from three generations serving the vineyard; it is fresh, irreverent, and memorable. Try it with these mini corn with bacon mayonnaise. Plan di Nova from Il Borro WinesCan you imagine a winery with medieval origins? Just 20 minutes from Florence, you’ll find this historic Eden that belonged to the most powerful families in Tuscany and was purchased by the Ferragamo family in 1993 to produce the highest quality wines with organic certification (since 2015). They have a thousand hectares dedicated to vineyards and offer an incredible reconstructed medieval village to visit with family. You must try Plan di Nova, made with Sirah (75%) and Sangiovese (25%) grapes; it is floral and spicy on the nose, with perfect acidity on the palate, round and very well balanced. Pair it with a cheese platter or your favorite meat for Thanksgiving. Corral de Campanas from Quinta la Quietud In the municipality of Toro, this vineyard with an ecological concept is found, using 100% grapes from its own vineyards. This 100% Tinta de Toro wine has spontaneous natural fermentation without added sulfites, making it very deep, with a purple color, intense aromas of red fruit, balsamic and spicy notes. On the palate, it is fresh and pairs perfectly with this turkey breast with cranberry sauce. Share with us how you will celebrate your Thanksgiving and which wines you will pair with it!
