Natural remedies to lighten armpits
One of the main concerns for women is the color of our armpits. Over time, they gradually darken, and when summer arrives, they can look dirty. That’s why we’re sharing our tips to lighten your armpits with natural remedies.
Armpits darken due to deodorant use, dead skin cells accumulating on the skin, the type of hair removal we use, cleaning habits, genetics, etc. There are some things we can do to prevent it, but the reality is that many women will experience this at least once in their lives.
With several months ahead of us with our armpits hidden, we can apply different home remedies to lighten them, so they look perfect in summer with our blouses. Remember that consistency is key to achieving positive results with any natural remedy, and if you notice any allergic reaction, you should stop using it immediately.
Natural Yogurt
Yogurt is a natural skin lightener. Apply it to your armpits three times a week and leave it on for 10 minutes before showering. Rinse off with warm water in the shower.
Pumice Stone
To remove dead skin cells, gently rub your armpits with a pumice stone every day while showering. In addition to removing dead skin, it will help eliminate any excess deodorant that may remain.
Lemon
We must be very careful with this remedy because it can stain the skin, but lemon is an excellent natural lightener. Slice a lemon and rub your armpits daily before showering. Make sure to rinse it off well before going outside.
Exfoliation
Before starting any natural remedy, it’s important to exfoliate your armpits well. You can make a paste with honey and sugar, or honey, lemon, and 2 tablespoons of oats. You can remove it with the pumice stone to ensure all dead cells are gone. As maintenance, we suggest regularly exfoliating your armpits to prevent future stains.
Baking Soda
Make a paste of baking soda with water and apply it to your armpits once a week. This helps to whiten the skin.
Prevention
If you don’t have this problem yet, or you’ve had it and don’t want it to happen again, here are 3 basic recommendations to prevent it:
Cotton Clothing
Try to wear cotton clothing whenever you exercise or are going to sweat. This will help sweat not to accumulate in your armpits and mix less with your deodorant.
Deodorants
As much as possible, try to use roll-on, aerosol, or gel deodorants. The formula of white sticks penetrates much deeper into the pores, clogging them, and is harder to remove, thus contributing significantly to the darkening of the armpits.
Hair Removal
We know that shaving is the most practical method for removing armpit hair, but it also contributes the most to its appearance. The same happens with creams as they cut the hair rather than remove it from the root.
In fact, one of the main advantages of laser hair removal is precisely that it helps restore the natural tone of your skin. If laser is not for you, try waxing or using tweezers; any method that pulls the hair out from the root will prevent your armpits from darkening.
