The label of a wine is its business card with consumers. The information we find on it can be quite varied, depending on the producing and marketing house. Nevertheless, the wine label must contain relevant information regarding the wine it holds.
The wine label is a fundamental part of a bottle of wine. It includes the brand (trade name), the type of wine (table wine, selection, dessert wine, etc.), technical data that are required in some countries for marketing, such as alcohol percentage, net content of the bottle, denomination, and address of where it was bottled (not always the place of origin of the vineyards), and the origin of the wine.
All the above data are sometimes mandatory, depending on the country. With this information, we can obtain the technical sheet of a wine. This information is relevant because it allows us to form an opinion about the wine.
Some other labels add information that is relevant for those who like to know more about the wine they are purchasing. Sometimes, there is an oenological description, such as the characteristics of the wine to the eye, in aroma, and taste. They may also indicate the ideal temperature for consumption or gastronomic recommendations to enhance its flavor.
With all the information provided by the wine label, we can make a more informed purchase decision based on the purpose of the purchase, whether it is for cooking, drinking alone, or pairing with certain types of dishes.
Below, we present some recipes for you to start practicing what you learned. These cooking recipes can be used for pairing, cooking, or simply to accompany these dishes.
