To serve wine at the table, we must adhere to these basic criteria:
- We must bring the wine to the table at the appropriate temperature for each type.
- The manufacturer informs us on the back label of the optimal temperature at which to serve the wine.
- We should not present opened bottles at the table, as it does not guarantee that the wine was opened exclusively for our guests.
- We will uncork the bottles carefully, preferably without moving them while removing the cork. This is essential when dealing with aged wines because if they have sediment from aging at the bottom, it will spread throughout the bottle, clouding the wine.
- We will decant aged wine to remove the sediment into its corresponding decanter. Although this procedure is not mandatory for wines of a certain age, it is often recommended.
- Reserve or grand reserve wines should be opened a few minutes before serving to allow them to breathe.
