ActitudFem I suffer a lot when I go to the supermarket because I only have time to go about once every two weeks. This means that half of the vegetables go bad, or by the end of the fortnight, I’ll have to eat nothing but tuna and pasta. That’s why ActitudFEM shared this list of tips to help keep your food fresh in the refrigerator for as long as possible. If you have little time like I do, give them a try! They really work.   1. Strawberries I love them, but I never finish them before they get mushy. After disinfecting, soak them for 5 minutes in 1 liter of water with a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. Dry them well before putting them in the refrigerator, and they will stay perfect for up to two weeks. Homemade Strawberry Yoghurt Recipe Ingredients: - 1 liter of natural yoghurt - 500 grams of washed, disinfected strawberries without stems - 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar Click here to find the steps to prepare this yoghurt.   2. Onions Onions spoil faster if you store them in the vegetable drawer with other items. If you live in a cool place, you can leave them outside the refrigerator in a cool, ventilated area. They can last up to two months.   3. Cheese in paper Cheese stored in plastic bags gets moldy faster. Wrap it in a paper bag (you can then put it in a plastic one if you like).   4. Mushrooms in paper I used to buy few mushrooms because they got slimy quickly, but that’s due to humidity. All you need to do is store them in paper bags instead of plastic in the refrigerator. Mushroom Soup Ingredients: - 1/2 stick of butter - 1 kilogram of chopped mushrooms - 1 finely chopped onion - 1/2 cup of dry white wine - 1 1/2 cups of chicken broth - 1 cup of heavy cream - 1 can of beef broth - 1 stalk of chopped celery - 1/2 chopped leek - 1 tablespoon of flour - bay leaf See the steps for this recipe here.   5. Bananas Wrap the part where the bananas come together in cellophane to make them last longer. It’s important to keep them away from the rest of the fruits, as they can spoil everything else. Banana Pudding with Cookies and Cream Recipe Ingredients: - 1 banana sliced - 6 tablespoons of prepared vanilla pudding - 4 vanilla cookies Click here to find the steps to prepare this pudding.   6. Celery in aluminum foil It will last much longer if you wrap it before putting it in the refrigerator. Celery Cream Recipe Ingredients: - 1 medium leek (white and light green parts) sliced - 12 stalks of chopped celery - 1 small peeled and chopped potato - 1 chopped red onion - 1 tablespoon of olive oil - 2 cups of water - 1 3/4 tablespoons of salt - 1 pinch of cayenne pepper Click here to find the procedure to prepare this recipe.   7. The pit in the avocado It is well known that avocado or guacamole turns black when it oxidizes. This can be prevented with lemon or by leaving the avocado pit in the guacamole. But if you’ve already thrown the pit away and you’re not a fan of lemon, you can use cooking spray. Spray it on the remaining half. Oriental Avocado Bruschetta Recipe Ingredients: - 1 baguette - 2 avocados - 2 seedless cucumbers - 4 tablespoons of rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds - 1 pinch of salt Click here to see the steps to prepare this recipe.   8. Bay leaf A bay leaf in the pasta or flour container will prevent it from getting infested with bugs.   9. Paper in the drawer Place newspaper (covered with napkins or absorbent towels) at the bottom of the vegetable drawer to absorb moisture.   10. Tomatoes Tomatoes should not be stored in the refrigerator. The cold causes them to lose flavor and gives them an unpleasant grainy texture. To make them last longer outside the refrigerator, arrange them preferably in a way that they do not touch each other. Tomato Soup Recipe Ingredients: - 2 tablespoons of butter - 2 tablespoons of olive oil - 1 finely chopped onion - 1 tablespoon of garlic - 2 tablespoons of flour - 1 1/2 kilograms of chopped tomatoes - 2 tablespoons of tomato puree - 1 tablespoon of sugar - 3 cups of chicken broth - 1/2 cup of heavy cream - basil for decoration - goat cheese for serving Click here to find out how to prepare this soup.   Do you have more tips?
