5 plans to celebrate dad

The father has been considered a symbol of protection and care; however, the archetype has been redefined over the years. Parenting today is an action that is painted in different shades. There is no single way to parent just as there is no one type of father. Families change, the way we relate changes, and with them the possibilities of celebrating those beings who provide us with security and make us feel safe. And since each father is a universe that reflects his own learnings and tastes, we want to propose something for each one. Here are five plans designed for five types of fathers. We would love to be present at their dining tables, the coffee table, or a picnic table to celebrate them. 1. HOME BBQFor grill lovers, the party begins with a couple of kilos of meat, a little guacamole, and the feeling of mastering the fire. If dad has a sweet tooth and is adventurous, you could venture to prepare some grilled ribs or even a northern-style seafood discada. Don't forget to include vegetables on the grill, such as nopales, and ingredients to make a salsa martajada. The cooking will be the perfect complement to some volcanoes –grilled tortillas with cheese– made on the spot. Pairing: a cabernet sauvignon like Teziano from Valle de Guadalupe.2. AROUND THE TVSometimes, Father’s Day just needs a good dose of sports and movies. Treat the man of the house to a stress-free afternoon, with good rest and family love. Arrange the food on the coffee table in front of the TV and pamper him with snacks to munch on. How about some esquites with marrow, some pizzas made on the spot, and one of these hot dogs? Afterward, you could have fun with a board game or do some activities related to the sport that's on TV. Someone, a blanket?Pairing: a relaxed blend of merlot and cabernet franc like Arrogant Frog or a pilsner beer like Principia Craft Pilsner or Vaquita Marina from Wendlandt.3. EASY FAMILY MEALSome dads enjoy gathering their loved ones around the table, catching up with each family member, and hearing the laughter of children or grandchildren in the background. For this plan, I suggest preparing something that can be put in the oven in a baking dish and doesn’t need to be plated. I like this tricolor aztec cake that captivates from the eyes. If dad is a fan of pasta, a ground beef lasagna will not fail. None of the recipes require an oven, so it’s not only practical but also budget-friendly.Pairing: for the aztec cake, go for a fresh and light wine made from gamay grapes like Beaujolais Villages George Dubeuf; for the lasagna, choose a Finca Villacreces from Ribera del Duero. 4. DINNER CELEBRATIONWhen the evening is not romantic, I enjoy having dinner with several small dishes placed in the center: petite servings that the family can interact with and serve themselves generously. Tables like this feel vibrant, full of life. A simple and delicious option is tapas. Place a Spanish omelette in the center, some serrano ham croquettes, and bread. If you want to get into the ultimate celebration mood, prepare a delicious seafood paella. Pairing: I suggest a rosé like Trois Petit Cochons Roses; if dad doesn't like rosé, a lager beer like Colimita will be the option. 5. 4X4 PICNICPerhaps dad enjoys outdoor experiences that refresh him and clear his mind. For them, I propose a lunch of sandwiches, baguettes, or paninis that everyone can prepare. Just make sure to bring enough cold cuts, a couple of soft cheeses, and a few aged cheeses. Don't forget the condiments, side dishes like wedged potatoes, and a pasta with Russian salad. For dessert, a chocolate cake with beer will complete the moment. Find a table in the middle of a national park, play some music, and celebrate surrounded by nature. Pairing: if you have serrano ham in your sandwich, I recommend a blend like Eclipse from Bodegas El Cielo.
