Last September, the kiwilimón team visited various places in the city, and now we recommend the best ones. Here you will find recommendations for places to try chocolate, vegan food, arepas, Turkish food and also Italian food. You can also read: Testing, testing: our August recommendations! Our 5 favorite places of the month Don't know where to go eat? Don’t worry, because at kiwilimón we made it our mission to visit 5 incredible places for Venezuelan, Turkish, vegan food, and even a specialized chocolate shop . Visit these great options and let us know which one you liked the most!1. Tan Cacao Tan Cacao is one of those places that hooks you from the first moment. Located in Santa María la Ribera, this small chocolate shop is causing a stir for several reasons. On one hand, the first thing you see upon entering is its cacao mill, which emphasizes the artisanal process used to make all their chocolate. Then you will reach their counter, which, although small, offers an infinity of options with sweet, semi-bitter, and bitter chocolate. I recommend trying their chocolate frappés with horchata, mint, marzipan, and chai. If you want to try something unique, order a cacao tea and be surprised by its flavor. And if you are a fan of traditional drinks, you can also enjoy a tascalate. End on a high note and delight yourself with their chocolate-covered strawberries, bonbons, and desserts like cookies, brownies, and cheesecake. What enamored me about Tan Cacao is that, in addition to offering high-quality chocolate at a fair price, you will also learn a lot about the history and the process that cacao goes through to transform into chocolate. El jardín de Anatolia Do you like spicy food full of flavors? Then you have to visit El jardín de Anatolia, a small Turkish food restaurant located in the south of the city. This place has a wide menu of appetizers, soups, kebabs, specialties, desserts, and drinks. However, you cannot miss their red lentil soup, the kebab with pistachio and the chicken with nuts. To drink, order a Turkish lemonade with a hint of mint or tea. Don't skip dessert! Enjoy their incredible baklava and pair it with a Turkish coffee. It is worth mentioning that El jardín de Anatolia stands out for things like the authenticity of its dishes, but also for the warmth of the chef, who is always joking with diners and ensuring that all dishes are to your liking. Recommended by Gretel Morales, Editorial Coordinator Where? Avenida México 180E, Coyoacán, CDMX. Price per person: $500+ 3. Ocho Tres Cinco If you are a fan of Venezuelan food or it is your first time trying it, I recommend Ocho Tres Cinco. If you want to try a bit of everything, you can order a platter that includes empanadas, pastelitos (small round empanadas), tequeños (cheese-filled), and mandocas (made with flour and ripe plantain). Among my favorites, I suggest the cachapas, which are like corn pancakes, served with cream and cheese, and can be accompanied by meat. You will also love the patacones, made with plantain, perfect if you enjoy the mix of sweet and savory flavors. They have locations in Mixcoac and Roma Norte. Don't miss it! Recommended by Inés Miselem, Design Coordinator Where? Durango 16, La Romita, Roma Nte., Cuauhtémoc, CDMX. Price per person: $200 - $400 See more: Testing, testing: our favorite pizzas!4. La plantisquería If you also like to try vegan food, but you like to vary and step out of the ordinary (not the usual: hamburgers, hot dogs, which is the most common you find), then you can't miss La plantisquería. It has a menu of dishes that you could enjoy on the beach, but 100% vegan. Let me tell you that the taste is very, very similar to the traditional ones. I dared to order the palm heart cocktail and it really blew my mind how delicious it was. The empanadas were tasty, but the ones that won my heart were the baja tacos, a combination of flavors that leaves you wanting more. A plus that not many have is the service; every time I've been, they are always very kind. Also, the place is pet-friendly! Recommended by Lourdes Serrano, Community ManagerWhere? Chihuahua 207, Roma Nte., Cuauhtémoc, CDMX Price per person: $200 - $400 5. Il tradizionale Il tradizionale is a very cozy restaurant that offers Italian food with a lot of flavor and of the best quality. It is an ideal place for a family meal or a romantic date. Regarding its food, Il tradizionale offers fresh pasta, so the flavor is guaranteed. I recommend ordering the beef carpaccio, the fillet with potatoes, as it is very juicy and full of flavor. Don't miss their cocktails to accompany all your dishes. Recommended by Alexandra Romero, ChefWhere? Cto. Plaza Esmeralda 12-Local 07 Planta Alta, Rancho Viejo, 52930 Cdad. López Mateos, Méx.
